The Phibbs House in Arvada’s Scenic Heights
I was invited to shoot the Phibbs House in Arvada, originally designed by interior designer H. Albert Phibbs for his family in 1961. The home’s most striking feature is a wall of glass that takes advantage of a breathtaking unobstructed view to the south from its site high in the Scenic Heights area. An 8' deep overhang protects the windows from sun in the hot summer months, despite the home’s full southern exposure.
I shot this home in 2018, and my photography skills have developed quite a bit since I took these shots - yet I still LOVE how many of them turned out, and I continue to keep this home in my portfolio of work, despite some clear technical deficiencies that would not have happened if I had shot it today.
